Even Better, No Emphasis

Now I’m sitting in the Washington D.C. airport.

When we got to SFO, I told my girlfriend to drop me off at the international terminal. I forgot that Washington D.C. is an actual part of the U.S. since it no longer represents the heartland of America. Or maybe I was just tired.

After about 15 minutes of extreme stupidity I finally realized that I needed to go to the domestic terminal.

The gate for my flight was totally crowded. The situation didn’t look good.

But then MTL called and was totally sweet. She talked about us both learning from the red-light experience.

I was blown away. I’ve done a lot of things that I didn’t think were such a big deal, but she did. Then I did something that I thought was totally bad, and she mostly viewed it as a learning opportunity. I was happy, yet confused. Such is the nature of having a girlfriend.

Amazingly, I got on the flight. Seat: middle of the middle. I was seated in between a lawyer and a high school chick. It felt just like C.S.M.

And now here I am, seated in gate D5 of IAD waiting to find out if I will get on the flight to Brussels. The second wind of tiredness is setting in.

Some of you are expecting a polite trip report with plenty of pictures. Well I didn’t bring a camera so fuck that. Instead all I have is my OLPC laptop with the built in camera. The only shots you are going to get are close up action portraits, like this:View of Ian Bowman from a laptop.

If you were a laptop and I was typing a blog entry on your keys, the view would be just like that.
