Nothing More Than

It’s been kind of emo around here lately. Since I’ve been back from Europe, there hasn’t been much feeling good or doing it. First I was sick. Then my cousin went missing. Luckily, I got well soon, and my cousin was found. (Incidentally, here’s a cnn video, and here’s an online news article about my cousin.)

Alas, I’m not done with the emo entries. There is one more thing in my life that I must tell you about before I get back to being obnoxious.

Unlike the previous two items, this issue features conflict but no resolution.

IAN BOWMAN EXCLUSIVE REPORT

MTL and I are going to break up. Well, technically, we already did break up but we still live together. She’s looking for a new place to live, though.

We had a discussion about a week ago and decided mutually to break up.

I’ve been keeping it on the down-low, but she already told a bunch of people and seems pretty secure about the decision. Therefore, I am obligated to bring you this exclusive report. Okay, maybe I’m not obligated, but I’m going to anyways.

I sometimes wonder if there really are any good or bad reasons to break up with someone. I’ve never known anyone who broke up for a reason that wasn’t based on feelings, which can change dramatically over the course of 30 seconds.

But we all listen to our feelings.

In a nutshell we felt like to meet each other’s expectations, we both would have had to change more than we wanted to.

But it’s not like we just made that discovery and then five minutes later broke up. First of all, it took time and effort even to realize that problem. But most importantly, we both worked on things together. Actually, we both worked quite a bit and tried a lot of different things. Then we tried again.

I feel good about that. I’m proud of both her, and myself. I’m not sitting here thinking “if only we had tried this, or that.”

After she moves out though, I’m sure I will be sitting here an thinking about this and that. I don’t look forward to the next few months. But in that regard, the thought of getting back together with MTL seems more like avoiding something bad, rather then going after something good.

There is a lot more I could say, but I’ll just leave it at that. This concludes the Ian Bowman Exclusive Report.

I’m so sorry, hon. I won’t tell you things’ll be fine because that’s total crap, but you will survive it and over time it’ll hurt a little less. If you ever need to talk, you can call or email me. *Big hug*

If you need to share anything you’re feeling, just post it here, and we’ll all read it. Or you can contact me privately. You’ll be well. You both will.
