A Real Press Release

June 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment · Humor

Allen sent me a great piece of corporate b.s. It is a press release from EFI, a company that I used to work for.

First, let me demonstrate how I would have written it.

Efi Selling Land And Buildings

FOSTER CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 29, 2008–EFI (NASDAQ:EFII), fucked up.

They bought a bunch of land before. Now they don’t have a use for it because their business sucks. They also built two huge buildings that they can’t afford to maintain. Almost immediately after the real estate bubble burst they are trying to sell everything because well, they are desperate.

Please help them. They need money.

I wonder whose job it is to translate what I wrote above into the real press release below. Whoever you are, I’m sorry. Please don’t blow your head off.

And appropriately, the acronym of your version is E-SLAB.

Maybe you can get a job writing P.R. for a company that wants to speak bluntly.
