I received an absolutely horrible email this morning. Or horrifying. Maybe that’s a better way of putting it: horrifying.
subject: Whole Foods E-waste and Donation Event on Saturday
Dear Ian,
This Saturday, Goodwill, Energy 92.7 Radio and Whole Foods Market have teamed up to make donating easy, fun and delicious. Visit us at the San Mateo Whole Foods Market and get a chance to win tasty prizes provided by Whole Foods Market. Don’t forget to come by and meet the Energy 92.7 team and hear DJ Kid Loose spin live from NOON until 2 P.M.
That’s how the email started.
Goodwill, Energy 92.7 Radio and Whole Foods Market? What an explosive recipe of self-righteous pretense. Complete with a DJ Kid Loose infused soundscape, I honestly can’t think of anywhere I would rather not be.
If I do go though, I’ll bring a camera and film what I don’t like.

Fortunately, this Saturday morning I plan on being hungover at my cousin’s house in San Francisco. Yes, I know I know: San Francisco is full of self-righteousness pretense, too. But least some of the people look good doing it. (It’s still not a very pleasant place to be either, though. Especially when during dinner people start talking about their love of Gavin Newsom, and how Reno 911! is not very intelligent comedy. And that’s like, every time I eat dinner there. Fuck San Francisco.)
